What to think about when buying Duvets

Assuming you obtain sufficient levels of sleep, you are probably spending a good eight hours resting under a duvet every night. Certain types of duvets are not compatible with people who have terrible allergies. These duvets will trigger allergic reactions and make it impossible for you to get a decent night’s rest. To keep your allergies at bay, invest in a good microfibre duvet. Made of hypoallergenic microfibre, the bedding keeps you nice and comfortable so that you won’t toss and turn all night long. When you are better rested, you are a healthier and more productive person. As such, a microfibre duvet is worth its price in gold!

Note that prices can vary widely because of the filler and size. Expensive ones tend to be lighter goose down duvets that last for 30 years or more. Lower priced ones are filled with synthetic fibre and can last, at most, 10 years.

Some of the natural fillers available include duck feathers and down, or goose feathers and down but these are not suitable for those with allergies to the stuffing being used. Synthetic fillers are also a good choice if you plan to wash your duvet often – natural filling is best left unwashed.

When you know which size you need the next thing you will need to decide upon will be the tog rating. The tog rating just shows how much air is trapped by the duvet and as you sleep this air is heated up so warmer duvets have high tog ratings. When comparing synthetic and natural fillers, organic filling will keep better insulation so you need less in the duvet to keep the temperature high so they are lighter, and softer.

Note
Once you’ve found a duvet that works for you also consider looking at investing in some pillows that are support your head – memory foam pillows are very good for this.
